HYROX is a Challenge...
Lets EMBRACE the Challenge...
Lets PREPARE for the Challenge...
And Lets SMASH the Challenge!!!
Top Tips for Success ✅
Have a PLAN!
Have a plan for All Stations - Know your race paces for runs & ergs. Know how far you can push/pull sleds before needing a breather (avoid lactic acid building).
Have a rep/distance split in mind for Sleds, Burpees, Farmers Carry (FC) & Lunges. Break these into manageable sets - this will also help mentally!!! For example; 4x25 Wall Balls or 100m FC then drop Kettlebells for a quick breather.
Be time aware 🕐 Know if you are on track/plan. IF feeling good entering the second half of the race - this is your time to PUSH!!!
2. Start STEADY!
Its very easy to get caught up in the buzz & atmosphere.
❌ Do not try to keep up with the leaders in your wave - stick to YOUR plan and YOUR paces.
Start Steady - the worst thing you can do is go too hard at the beginning. This will:
❌ Raise your heart rate very quickly and may raise it to the point that there is no way back.
You DONT get a podium spot for leading the first run or winning the Ski Erg! This is a long race at a high intensity..So Pace yourself and KNOW WHEN TO PUSH!!!
3. The ROX Zone (Area between the stations):
IF you are looking for a quick time - RUN the ROX Zone!!! This is where your run/station STARTS! This is NOT a rest/water break & counts towards your overall time🏃♀️🏃♂️
IF not worried about time - use this to catch your breath before tackling the next station/run.
4. Know the RULES!
The judges can be sticky and you WILL get NO REPS if not meeting the standards. This is not want you want and can be extremely mentally challenging, especially towards the later end of the race.
So lets avoid this & meet the Standards!👊
5. Make sure you are FUELLED correctly!
Its essential to fuel correctly leading up to the event and on race day.
✔️You must be fuelled up on CARBS to ensure you have enough energy (glycogen stores) to finish the race! The last thing you want is to hit the dreaded 'Wall'
✔️You need to ensure you have had adequate ELECTROLYTES - to avoid cramping and dehydration!
